The Hands
As most of you know my hands were not in very good shape when I was in Ohio. I've had problems for several months but never had them checked out. Most of the time I used Aleve to reduce the "discomfort" so I could do what an old guy does. But lately they were giving me enough problems to affect my lifestyle (impact my golf and softball), so I made an appointment prior to heading to Ohio.
I saw a hand surgeon Tuesday. After telling me what a dummy I was waiting so long to address the discomfort, she told me I had tendinitis in one hand (or wrist) and severe tendinitis (right hand) in the other. She gave me three Cortisone shots in my right wrist and Cortisone dope to help heal both hands. I'm not to play golf, softball or lift anything for 30 days. I've agreed to not play softball (new season doesn't start until September), reduce my golf, and not lift much (beer glasses, bottles or cans are not included), but I'm not going to sit in a rocking chair waiting for my time to run out. I also have to wear hard wrist supports, like some bowlers use, on both hands all day.
It's not easy being old.

Good. I'm glad you finally did something about your hands. Good luck on the Cortisone shots. You'll still be able to work etc. I'm sure Barbara can find things for you to do that doesn't use your hands too hard. Take care, as you're finding out you're not as young as you use to be.
