Bob's Story

I'm just an old steel worker from Ohio that played with telephones for 30 years and decided to live a stress free life and to be a nice guy to all regardless of how many jerks I meet.

Fitness Freak

I had another doctor's appointment last week.  I had a couple of concerns and was not feeling comfortable with my progress.  He told me I was fine and progressing well, but that tendons take a long while to repair themselves, so I need to find some patience.  (I don't think he understands how much money I'm losing playing golf.)  The main issue is to strengthen my leg.

I told him that I started to golf, but my game sucks and I have been careful not wanting to cause any more damage to my knee.  He asked if I was playing softball and I assured him I was not.  He told me I could work on my golf game as much as I wanted, but not to play softball, run or jump, for another 4 or 5 months.  I have another appointment with him in two months.

He gave me a couple more exercises that would help strengthen the leg and he suggested I work on my upper body.  (I don't understand working on my upper body.  It already looks like a case of beer. Why do I have to get it to look like a 6 pack.)  I have been doing a lot of walking, going to the pool and using leg weights.  So as much as I hate to work out, I joined The Villages Rec Center gym for three months.

Last week I worked out my leg and upper body twice.  That's twice more than I've worked out over the last 40 years.  I didn't realize how weak my leg really is until I used a couple of Nautilus leg machines.  My left leg is much weaker than my right one.  I can walk find except for going down hill, so I thought they were close.  But after my first workout I noticed how much smaller my left leg is compared to my right.

After three months of working out, I expect to be about 6'5", 250 lbs with a 30 inch waist.  I'm also trying to reach A-Rod for some assistance, but we haven't been able to connect yet.
