Bob's Story

I'm just an old steel worker from Ohio that played with telephones for 30 years and decided to live a stress free life and to be a nice guy to all regardless of how many jerks I meet.

Great Week in Florida

We celebrated Mom's 89th Birthday

Jeb decided to drink Barbara's second Margarita

After beating Dad and Jeb on the golf course, we gave them another chance playing "Up and Down". Naturally, we won again. Dad said something about having a bad a partner, but I guess he tells Uncle Bob the same thing.

You know life is good when you can drink beer, eat chips and watch Ohio State Football.

Visitors from Ohio

It's September and Mom, Dad and Jeb are in Florida for a visit. Jeb and I are playing in the Member-Guest Tournament and Mom and Dad are enjoying some warm weather before the snows hit in Ohio.

We borrowed a golf cart from some friends, so while Jeb and I played golf, Mom and Dad took ride in the golf cart. As with all new people they got lost. They did fine getting to Sumter Landing, but not so well getting home. However, after having 4 or 5 friendly Villagers give them directions, some obviously not knowing where they were either, they found home and all was well.

Today we had our annual golf tournament. You would think Dad and Jeb would give up by now since I make the rules and Mom and I always win. But they are not the brightest bulbs on the tree. Here are some pictures of the group on the course.

Good and Bad

The good news is softball is going well. As a team we are 1-1. Our loss was a last of the 7th heart breaker, but I drank a beer anyway. My fine tuned athletic body is still unhurt (although I am a little sore) and I'm hitting something over .700 while not making any errors (yet).

The bad news is my golf game sucks. I've lost it somewhere and can't find it. Last month shooting several rounds in the 70's, I enjoyed taking money from my golf partners, but my handicap dropped like a rock. The last couple of weeks, I've had a hard time staying below 90. I use to have a problem going left or "lefter". Lately I've developed a slice, not only with my driver, but also my irons. I've got a week and a halve before my brother comes down to play in the member-guest tuornament so I hope I can figure it out by then. We need to win so I can pay for all the beer he drinks.

My Body is back

We had two softball practices this week and I am still able to walk without "much" pain. (Remember, I'm still an old man, so some soreness is expected.) Next week will be our first game of the fall season and I hope to survive every game.

Over the summer with no softball and a broken foot, my golf game improved. Now that I'm back playing softball, we will see if both games are compatible.
