Bob's Story

I'm just an old steel worker from Ohio that played with telephones for 30 years and decided to live a stress free life and to be a nice guy to all regardless of how many jerks I meet.

July in Ohio

I didn't realize it until we were home, but we didn't take many pictures in Ohio this year.  These are the best ones I have that represent Ohio 2016.

Not much to say about this one
This is the new slide this year.  The weather was pretty good so it was used a lot.
The only decent picture of Druz
The brain trust
Mom and Dad enjoying the kids and an evening camp fire.
Barbara roasting (actually burning marshmallows) at the fire.
Camdyn driving to the fire.
Only picture of Vicki.  Next year I have to take better pictures

Thursday

Today was a golf day.  I didn't play very well.  I shot 39 on the front, but dropped to a 44 on the back.  It was hot, but the beer was cold afterward.

Yesterday, I played softball.  We won.  I was 4 for 4, but I made an error in the outfield.  Since it's slow pitch, I expect to hit the ball, so even though I'm at the highest batting average on the team, I am more upset about the error.  I know I'm old, but that doesn't mean I expect to make an error two.  I would rather make an out at the plate than make an error.  Anyway the beer was cold afterward.

Golf Week - On the Course

These are most of the guys that started and supported Gold Week for the last several years.  Unfortunately, Uncle Ed and Bobby are watching from a different place, but I'm sure they still approve of the family caring on the tradition.

This is the oldest member of our group (and most groups).  My dad is 99 years old and played three times this year.  He was worn out by the end of the week, but we all enjoyed his participation and his team appreciated his contributions.  He can play anytime he wants with anyone he wants.

Mon and Dad sitting by the campfire enjoying the family.

My two grandsons and son-in-law.  I've heard all the short jokes, so you don't have to repeat them.  I bought 18 balls for the grandkids to use.  They lost all but 3.  We had a great time and I'm looking forward to it some other time.

2 Man Tournament

I played in a 2 man best ball tournament today. I and my partner hit the ball well, but we finished out of the money because I could not putt.  I missed 6 putts inside of six feet.  Once I three putted inside of six feet. We shot a 75, 71 won, 73 was n the money.  I don't expect to hit every putt inside of 6 foot, but I do expect to make 4 or 6 and never three putt.

Anyway we had a great time and drank a beer or two to drown my putting sorrows.

We were in Ohio last week, but we've been too busy to add some photos and comment on the blog.  I'll try to add something this weekend.

Weekend in St. Pete

Barbara and I spent a weekend at her mothers in St. Pete.  It was a great weekend.  It threaten rain several times, but only came once very briefly.  Typical for Florida.

BJ took us out on his boat.  We cruised around Tampa Bay, around Egmont Key and a little bit into the Gulf.  BJ needed a  guide so I thought I would help him out.

The Skyway bridge in the background collapsed several years ago when a ship hit it and several people lost their lives when their cars, trucks and buses went into the bay.  A tragic event.   Now they have some barriers for a wayward ship to hit before it would get to the bridge. We boated past a cruise ship on the way back.  We looked very small next the cruise ship

Barbara's mother has three kayaks, so one morning we took a trip around her island in the inter coastal waterway.  It was nice and peaceful around 9am.  We stopped at a small island and Barbara fished a little.  She didn't catch anything until we returned and cast her line off her mother's dock.

Another Day

Today was a golf day.  I shot an 80, which is good for me.  I had three birdies and one triple boogie.  Otherwise I was pretty constant.  I made a couple of bucks, so life it good.

Now that I'm home I was told we are going out to eat.  I may have to drink a couple more beers to fill out the evening.

Thursday

I know I say I would update this more this year and haven't done it, so if you want to know about my boring retired life, I'll attempt to keep you informed.

Let's start with something good.  Two weeks ago I shot a 73 (golf).

Last week I shot a 85 and 89.  Back to normal.

This week I shot a 85 Tuesday and a 79 today.

Yesterday I played softball.  I was two for three at the plate and caught several balls in the outfield.  One fly ball someone thought they could go home, but I threw and strike to the relay guy and he threw a strike to home and he was out.  There is nothing better than throwing a guy out at the plate when your in the outfield.  We won the game 11 - 7.
